After flogging Christ and condemning Him to death, Pilate delivers Christ over to be crucified. But the crucifixion of Christ is by no means an act of defeat for the Son of God. Rather, the events that John includes in his gospel accomplish his purpose of presenting Jesus Christ as God Himself in all of His divine perfections.
