In Colossians 4:1, Paul tells slave owners that they too have a Master in heaven. The heavenly Master, the Lord Jesus, has been mentioned no less than six times in this Haustafel, or codes for the household, teaching us that every believer ultimately serves his or her Master in heaven. Living to serve our heavenly Master is life-transforming in at least two ways.
