1 Chronicles 21-29

Sunday School,  February 7, 2010

In these two lessons we will probe the significance of David’s preparation to build the temple. Except for chapter 21, every chapter in this section finds virtually no parallel text in the rest of the OT. The uniqueness of this portion of Scripture, therefore, highlights the purpose of the writer of Chronicles. We also discover that when we come to the subject of the temple we come to the heart of the message of Chronicles. In Part 1 we will focus on textual concerns and the message of chapter 21 with respect to the temple. In Part 2 we will focus on how 1 Chronicles 21-29 fits specifically into the rest of the whole.
