When we embrace Jesus Christ by faith in his death and resurrection, God does not merely “zap” us with new life. He does something much more profound: God places us “in Christ,” so that the new life of the resurrected Son of God is our new life also. Paul’s words in this text depict our transition from being dead “in Adam” to alive “in Christ,” and challenge us to live a resurrected life.
