From the beginning, Nehemiah was taking in an overwhelming task. The rebuilding of the wall in Jerusalem would be in opposition to Artaxerxes previous edict to stop the building of the wall. In addition, he would be opposed by Jerusalem's enemies in the region. Finally, he would need to energize people to help him who had long ago grown apathetic. Yet, he pursued his goal because of the burden that God had placed on his heart.
