As the Thessalonians anticipated the Lord's return, they were responsible to live godly lives and continue to grow in the faith. Paul began by addressing their relationship with their spiritual leaders. In this passage, he addresses their responsibilities towards each other.

As they anticipated the Lord's return, they were responsible to live godly lives and continue to grow in the faith. Paul begins this section by discussing the relationship between pastors and the people.
Children of the Light
1 Thessalonians 5:6-11

Paul refers to Christians as children of the light not of the darkness. He describes the duties of those who are children of the light as well as their ultimate destiny in relation to the day of the Lord. As he prepares to leave the Thessalonian believers with some final instructions, he reminds them of who they are and how that reality should impact their daily lives.
