Romans 8:28-30 explains that God not only has a plan for you, but also he is actively working that plan out in your life.

As children of God do we really have to suffer? Where did all of this suffering come from?

Only those led by the Spirit are the sons of God. Being a child of God means that you not only have eternal life but that you are also an heir of God.
