While we often look at Christmas from the perspective of Mary or the shepherds, we rarely consider Christmas through the eyes of Joseph. Joseph was a just man struggling with a very complicated situation. Joseph would be challenged to grow in his faith as he would have to trust the Lord as he tried to understand the virgin birth, obey the Lord by taking Mary as his wife, and remain sensitive to the Lord as he learned to follow God's direction.

After proclaiming that everything that he has written in his gospel is true, John declares that Jesus did many other things that are not recorded in his gospel. This leads us to the question of why John chose the things that he did to include in his gospel. According to John, himself, the things that he included in his gospel are there to enable his readers to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing they will have eternal life.
