The Holy Spirit and the Last Days – Part 2
Acts 2:1–21; various texts
Speaker
Wednesday Evening Service,  June 1, 2016

The doctrine of the Holy Spirit is one of the most fascinating and mysterious studies in the Word of God. But while many theologies describe the Holy Spirit and his ministries, few address the Holy Spirit’s ministry in the Last Days in particular. In this study, we will examine the Holy Spirit’s coming upon the church, signifying the Last Days, and explore what the Spirit’s ministry means for us today.
Two Wicked Sons and a Forgiving Father
Luke 15: 11-32
Speaker
Sunday Morning Service,  May 29, 2016

This message seeks to explain the third part of a parable that Jesus gave concerning God's joy in the recovery of lost sinners. It deals with both the prodigal son who went into a far country and his hypocritical brother who stayed at home. Both were equally sinners and in need of recovery. The emphasis is on the generous forgiveness of the father rather than the sinfulness of the brothers.
Perfect Patience
James 5:7-12
Speaker
Sunday School,  May 29, 2016

Patience involves suffering long without complaint or groaning. It also is used for endurance or waiting on God without complaining. Patience is made difficult by the "natural man's" focus on me, my desires, my needs. How does God use every nuisance in our lives for something good?

The Hyperbolic Virtue of the Church
1 Corinthians 13
Speaker
Sunday Morning Service,  May 22, 2016

Prior to 1 Corinthians 13, Paul patiently teaches the Corinthians to stop being envious of one another’s spiritual gifts. Clearly and rationally he silences the church’s unrest by laying out arguments so thorough that no church member can deny that the apostle is absolutely correct. And yet, Paul adds, there is an even better way to solve this problem. Going beyond all of his rational arguments, he urges the church to practice one virtue which transcends all others, love. As Paul elaborates, we learn three essential aspects of this necessary ingredient among the Lord’s people.
The Last Days of the Last Days
Various Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Service,  May 18, 2016

The Last Days of the Last Days is the title of our Summer Prophecy Series. In this first session, we will consider the Role of Gentiles in Relationship to the Jews. This is very significant considering the hatred against Israel by so many countries today and how this relates to what the Bible states about Israel in the "Last Days." The second item is to note the nations today that are actually extensions of the nations when Judah and Israel were still in their land. The last part of this session relates to who actually belongs to the land of Israel and Palestine.
Is Your God Big Enough?
Isaiah 40:12-28
Speaker
Sunday Morning Service,  May 15, 2016

God always gets the last word, even if He has to stop the mouths of the foolish. We, like foolish children, use the word but when we don't want to follow God's instruction and will.  Many times we limit what God can do in and through us by not letting Him be BIG enough in our thinking.
Who Controls Our Lives?
James 5
Speaker
Sunday School,  May 15, 2016

Our live must not include our faith. Our faith must determine our lives.
Worship in Affliction
1 Samuel 1
Speaker
Sunday Morning Service,  May 8, 2016

Hannah's example of worshiping in the midst of her affliction parallels in many ways the supreme example of Christ. God's choice agents have often suffered more, not less, because of their pious example. Because God uses affliction to bring himself greater glory, you should worship Him in your affliction.
Having Your Cake and Eating It Too?
Revelation 2: 1-7, 18-29
Speaker
Sunday Morning Service,  May 1, 2016

Some Christians and churches take a "you can't have your cake and eat it too" approach to the relationship between love and truth.  They can't seem to love while they stand for truth. However, the Scriptures clearly show that love and truth do coexist and must dwell together.  What is the true relationship of love and truth? What do believers and churches look like who hold to truth in a loving way? Revelation 2 proves three examples showing us that a Christ exalting church lovingly stands for truth.
How Important Is Baptism?
Matthew 28:16-20
Speaker
Sunday Morning Service,  April 24, 2016

We are a Baptist church, part of the Baptist denomination. Of course, the primary thing that defines us is God's Word--the Bible. But nonetheless, our stand on baptism is one of the defining points that we use as a name for ourselves. So it would seem that baptism is a very important thing. But how important is baptism to God? This is a question I believe the Bible answers emphatically.
