God uses our background and experiences to prepare us for future service. That is exactly what he did in this passage for the Apostle Paul. Paul's citizenship, training as a pharisee, and his prior experiences of the grace of God all worked to prepare him for his arrest in Jerusalem.

"How eager are you to share your testimony, to share the gospel? Paul had just been delivered from death by the intervention of the commander. The Jews had been beating Paul in front of the temple, intending to beat him to death! Yet, Paul created an opportunity to share the gospel through his personal testimony and defense to the people.

Look for opportunities to share the gospel! Be willing and ready to share your story!"

Abigail, a heroine who serves duty, honor, and family with wisdom and humility saves her people and a future king from the conseqeunces of their actions.

Paul's commitment to the gospel and the Jewish people, motivated him to travel to Jerusalem in spite of the dangers and warnings. The false accusations of the Jews and arrest by the Romans were not enough to deter him from sharing his testimony and the gospel message.

Although he started out well, seeking the Lord, Uzziah did not finish well. Why not? What were the factors that kept this good king, who originally sought after God, from finishing his reign well?

As Paul continues on his journey to Jerusalem, he is repeatedly warned about the arrest and abuse that he will receive when he gets there. However, in spite of warnings and well-meaning friends, Paul remained focused on completing his ministry for Jesus Christ.

Our Bible character today is Jabez whose name means pain, a name which was almost guaranteed to bring him many unpleasant experiences throughout his life. I Chronicles 4:9-10 is the only reference to him and contains his prayer, that has grabbed the attention of many because of the book written by Bruce Wilkinson, “The Prayer of Jabez.” Prior to his book, many people never heard of Jabez because these two verses appear in the midst of a large genealogical portion of Scripture that most people skip over when reading through the Bible. His circumstances and prayer are both important for our spiritual maturity.

As Paul visits with the elders from the Ephesian church, he informs them that this will be the last time that he will see them. His last words to these men instruct them to care for the church of God and to be alert for those who would attempt to ravage and damage the church.

What is the object of your faith? Are you trusting in lying words?

God works through all circumstances to accomplish his purposes. If we humble ourselves like Rehoboam we will be forgiven.
