God is not restricted or affected by time as we are. He is both eternal and infinite while our existence on earth is brief and always in the process of decline. The issue is not the amount of time we have but how we, as God’s servants, use the time He has allotted to us. God’s timing is always perfect and it simply takes a little patience and a whole lot of faith, after which we discover just how great our God is. Man’s life apart from God results in death, but whatever is accomplished for His glory lasts for eternity. The solution to having a Happy New Year is to live daily for God’s approval with a constant view of eternity.

This special king would be a gift to the people. His reign would be characterized by spiritual growth as he would be the messiah who will meet the spiritual needs of his people.

The church alluded to in Acts 20:3 is the church at Corinth. Although the Apostle Paul had poured much of himself into that church, the church a Corinth broke his heart repeatedly because of the self-centered, carnal attitudes and the resulting sin in the church. Even as Paul was visiting the churches of Macedonia to collect the offering for the saints in Jerusalem, he was anxious as he awaited news from Titus concerning the spiritual state of the church in Corinth.
