God's wrath and God's love, often thought of only as contrary aspects of God's nature, wonderfully unite in the doctrine of the propitiation. While God's wrath upon sinners is necessary and just, God's love provided a Substitute, the Lord Jesus Christ, to receive His wrath in our stead. In order for us to fully appreciate this rich truth, however, we must be convinced of at least three biblical realities.
