Colossians 1:15-20 appears to be a first-century hymn with two parallel stanzas exalting Christ as supreme over all. In the first stanza, Christ is exalted for His work of creation; in the second, His work of re-creation, or redemption. To begin our worship of Christ as we meditate on this second stanza, we must answer the question, what language does Paul employ in order to exalt the Lord as supreme?
