The crisis of authority, in which rational thought was exalted above the Holy Scriptures, eventually brought about the rise of individualism, or the sovereignty of the individual. But it is the "unity" of the body of Christ that signals its "maturity," a unity in doctrine and love and purpose. In these sessions, the New Testament doctrine of unity in the church is set against the current mood of individualism, compelling us to take great care how we conduct ourselves as the body of Christ.
