One of the most important words in John’s Gospel is the word “believe.” Not only does the verb “believe” occur more frequently in John than any other New Testament book, but in fact the author’s very purpose for writing his Gospel is that his readers may “believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God” (John 20:31).
